Cruzan Foodie Fave: Roast Pork on St. Croix

Roast pork on St. Croix is a must add to your foodie list if you want to taste the best food on island! This popular protein is easily found at food trucks and local restaurants throughout St. Croix. Seasoned with garlic, oregano, salt, pepper and other flavorful local seasonings, it is cooked to perfection in an oven or roasted over an open fire to create this tender, juicy meat with a crispy skin.

USVI + Puerto Rico Connection

Known as a popular Puerto Rican dish, it’s no surprise that roast pork on St. Croix has been adapted by Crucians as a staple in their lineup of mouthwatering local dishes. The reason for this is the longstanding relationship between US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico that dates back to 1917. As a result, we had a number of Puerto Ricans descendants coming to the USVI – particularly St. Croix – to settle and establish their families here. This relationship has grown and flourished so much that we a local holiday in. the USVI called Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship Day. Observed on the second Monday of every October, the holiday celebrates the Puerto Rican people and their contributions to the advancement and progress of the US Virgin Islands.

Places to Get Roast Pork on St. Croix

1. Asado Crucian Latin Grill – This food truck is located on Hess Road near Sunny Isles. They usually roast a whole pig every Saturday and may offer roast pork specials during the week. Be sure to call to confirm and place your order over the phone as wait times can be pretty long due to the number of orders. 2. Centeno’s Cruzan Cuisine (11am – 5pm) – This popular local eatery is located in Diamond Ruby across from the KFC in the Sunny Isles Shopping Center.
